The Puriclean III from Maytag/Amana is designed to replace the existing Puriclean II filter used in many Admiral and Maytag fridges.

It offers more advanced filtration including MTBE - a contaminent of growing concern (particularly in the states) which is essentially petrolloeum (and petrolleum compounds), caused through soil contamination. Even a gallon of waste petrol can contaminate a water source for months if it gets into the soil. It also remove chlorine, sediment, heavy metals and lead as per the original Puriclean II specification.

The filter has a six month life and should be changed at regular intervals to ensure the cartridge sterility isn't comprimised.

The Puriclean II is officially discontinued, and whilst there is cartridge stock available, it is likely by the end of 2008 that the Puriclean III will be the only option available to customers. We are offering the cartridge now purely in case anyone wishes to change earlier and because newer Admiral fridges (sold after October 2007) will actually be supplied with the 9001 version as standard.
