Here at UK Fridge Filters we take security very seriously, we don't wish for any customer to have a 'bad' experience whilst shopping with us. As is standard amongst most eCommerce websites we use 128bit SSL security, which ensures anything you submit to our website is secure between your computer and us, however, this represents a fraction of the 'overall' security problems a website faces.

Payments
Payments are processed by HSBC Secure ePayments in real-time, using Verfied by Visa and Secure 3D technologies (secondary passwords specific to your card) where applicable. We do not retain your card information on our servers or databases. In the event of system outtages by HSBC our system will switch to Paypal automatically, which is obviously one of the worlds most tried and tested payment solutions.

PCI Compliance
Due to the volume of online transactions we are required by both card issuing organisations (VISA and Mastercard) to test our website regularly (at least once a quarter) to ensure that it is secure. These tests must be conducted by an External body who have been approved by the card issuers for the purposes of conducting such tests. Our websites are tested by McAfee, one of the world leaders in secure technologies, who provide us with detailed security audits which need to be submitted to both our merchant provider, HSBC and the card issuers themselves. These tests, which essentially constitue McAfee trying to hack into our servers, are very thorough and any points noted for action are notified to our IT Department for priority resolution. All our PCI scans to date have been in good order and provided when requested on time.

Web Servers
We operate dedicated web servers in secure facilities, with redundancy options in the event of communications problems between the Internet and that site. Our sites are not hosted along with a multitude of others from various other companies on one server, thereby minimising potential security exploits. Our servers, in line with our PCI policy are updated with the latest security patches at regular intervals

Proactive Customer Service!
It is not uncommon that our customers do something which itself is a security issue - i.e. beyond our control. Such things include emailing us card numbers, or us receiving emails which have clearly stemmed from a virus located on a customers machine. Where we highlight such occurrences we will always try to inform the customer of the potential issues which they may either have or may be potentially opening themselves up to. Security online is not just about ensuring the companies you deal with are secure, but that your own computer - Which is probably the weakest link in the chain and one beyond our control, is also properly maintained.
